Keeping Glastonbury hydrated and single-use plastic free!

Our famous Water Bar visited Glastonbury to keep staff and festival goers refilled with the West Country's finest H2O.

An estimated 12,000 music lovers at Glastonbury were supplied with free, fresh drinking water by our teams – all without using plastic bottles.

Plastic-free refills

We set up our famous Water Bar – located near the Woodsies stage, where thirsty revellers could pour their own pint, saving thousands of single-use plastic bottles.

Our Engagement team were on hand to serve festivalgoers who brought along their reusable bottles throughout the five-day extravaganza at Worthy Farm, which featured headline performances from Coldplay and Dua Lipa.

Our Water Bar helped support the festival's ban on single-use plastic bottles, and their aim of being one of the most environmentally conscious events in the world. This commitment is also part of 'Our Promise To The Planet' – Bristol Water and our parent company Pennon Group's ambitious plan to reduce carbon emissions and champion sustainability.

Keeping the water flowing

Glastonbury is in the Bristol Water supply area and with Worthy Farm growing to the size of a small city during the festival week – planning started very early this year to cope with an up-to six times increase in demand for water.  Over 23 of our staff were working around the clock to ensure all water services on and away from the site remain seamless throughout. The network was continuously monitored by our operational teams for the festival’s duration.

“We’re delighted again to provide fresh, clean water for the hundreds of thousands of festival goers, crew, volunteers, and emergency services – who all make Glastonbury such an iconic event. Rezoning such a large amount of water requires months of planning, and I’d like to thank all of our teams for their hard work.”

Sam Bottomley, Head of Network Operations

Bristol Water works collaboratively with the communities we serve on initiatives, such as the Water Bar and Refill Bristol – our free to use water fountain network. Look out for us at an event near you!
