Transfer of Bristol Water
On 1 February 2023, Bristol Water transferred to South West Water through an approved transfer scheme under Schedule 2 of the Water Industry Act 1991. This means the property, rights and liabilities of Bristol Water Plc transfers to South West Water as if it had always been the owner.
Effective at the same time, South West Water became the provider of drinking water services to the area previously served by Bristol Water Plc following a variation to South West Water’s licence and termination of Bristol Water Plc’s licence by industry regulator Ofwat.
Bristol Water will continue to deliver for the 1.2 million customers in the area as a brand of South West Water, retaining a local identity and presence for customers and communities. South West Water is committed to delivering Bristol Water’s agreed 2020-2025 regulatory business plan and commitments.
We are committed to high standards of corporate governance, which are critical to our business integrity, and to maintaining customer and stakeholder trust in us.
We expect all our directors, employees and suppliers to act with honesty, integrity, fairness and respect. To support our governance, we have chosen to develop and adopt our own Corporate Governance Code which brings together both the UK Corporate Governance Code and Ofwat’s Principles of ‘Board leadership, transparency and governance’.
