Asset Information Technician

We know …. it’s a great job title, but who should apply? The answer – anybody with GIS experience! If you have used a GIS system or have studied it as part of your degree/ course, are good with data and want to work for a company that provides a crucial service to the Bristol community, please read on! What will you be doing? The Asset Information Technician is responsible for collecting and recording timely and accurate data on assets and asset performance within the Corporate Geographical Information System (GIS) and the Campaign Management System (CM) and provide specialist analysis and investigative support as requested to other departments within the company. This is a hugely varied role, one day you could be drawing a diagram or plot with the GIS data to help an internal customer, the next investigating an enquiry from Ofwat in relation to an interruption to a supply. In addition, you will ensure the accuracy and validity of data, identify and export data to other computer packages in the organisation e.g. AutoCAD, Tableau and Excel, and provide the location of mains and other assets as requested by customers such as colleagues in the Asset Management Directorate, Development Services, New Supplies, Legal, NRSWA (so in other words you will be dealing with requests from lots of different areas). What we are looking for … We need someone who has an understanding of GIS. Ideally in a practical capacity gained within the water industry or other utility business, but we will consider those who have studied it and want to develop a career within this field. Asset Maintenance Technician

The Asset Maintenance Team are responsible for ensuring that data and information are assured and of high quality, with reliable, comprehensive and dynamic/ current data sets relevant to the current and future business requirements. When asked why should people apply for the Asset Maintenance Officer (technician) position, the Manager (who by the way has just been promoted from this role) said other than the amazing team you get to work in, the mix of office and field work, plus the ability to really get a good understanding of the whole water industry stands out. Around 70% of the time will be based in head office producing reports and data tables, updating SAP, producing work schedules and undertaking data assurance and auditing, whilst the other 30% will be spent in the field collecting data on our assets and liaising with the field technicians. Throw in project work linked to the overall continuous improvement and delivery of the asset strategy and you will be kept busy! What we are looking for … We need someone who loves process and data. You’ll need to have worked in a data processing or information management role in the past and ideally have worked with SAP. Marketing & Communications Officer

The Communications & Marketing Officer is an important part of a small and busy Communications team that aims to promote awareness and increase visibility of all Bristol Water services as well as building engagement and loyalty with our customers. Initially, you will be supporting a major business initiative around water meters, hence the fixed duration of 12 months. You will also be responsible for delivering some of our key behaviour change campaigns around water efficiency whilst working with marketing/ digital agencies as well as internal teams to deliver campaigns and communications. In addition, you will manage and schedule our messages through various social media channels, e.g. website, twitter, blogs, LinkedIn. You will engage and influence stakeholders, develop and evaluate marketing plans whilst reporting against targeted aims.
