Asset Cost Manager

Do you have a background in working with cost systems? In this role you will have opportunity to own and imbed costing data and information systems to inform our asset management strategies in one of the UK’s most trusted utilities providers. Bristol Water has developed and implemented a proactive asset management capability programme that enables our assets to serve our 1.2 million customers now and in the future. Our aim is to ensure that the decisions we make and processes we implement in relation to our assets are robust, well informed and evidenced. What will you be doing? As Asset Cost Manager, you will have the opportunity to build new business capability within the Asset Management Directorate by developing and maintaining a company specific Unit cost system and work closely with the relevant operational delivery partners to embed the processes, system and data collection as business as usual activity. You will also be developing the data requirements and establishing a data governance process by working closely with the Asset Information Manager, ensuring an appropriate level of assurance of data used in producing the cost data. In order to do this you will need to undertake internal and external benchmarking and carry out gap analysis of data sets. Develop and maintain a company specific Unit cost system. Work closely with the relevant sections in the Asset Management Directorate and other stakeholders to implement and embed the processes, system and data collection as business as usual activity. Working closely with the Asset Information Manager, ensure an appropriate level of assurance of data used in producing the cost data. Undertake internal and external benchmarking Carry out gap analysis of data sets. You will be responsible for the full procurement lifecycle including the development, implementation and ownership of sourcing strategies, and on-going commercial contract and supplier performance management across a number of strategically critical contract areas Key responsibilities will include: Sourcing, evaluation and negotiation of strategic contracts and agreements to the business Engagement with internal stakeholders to understand and deliver business requirements and improvements. Prepare and evaluate pre tender and tender documents in conjunction with business stakeholders Ensuring Bristol Water compliance with relevant EU and UK regulations, legislation and procurement law. Supplier relationship management - running regular supplier and contract performance reviews, based on feedback from supplier, business stakeholders and supply chain data. We have an opportunity for a Health & Safety Advisor to join us on an 18 month FTC to support our H&S team here in one of the UK’s most trusted utilities providers! The Health & Safety Advisor has a varied role carrying out site inspections, reinstatement work, street works, excavation and conducting audits whilst working alongside various internal stakeholders and contractor partners. This is a great opportunity as you will be responsible for inspecting, auditing and reviewing a wide range of workplaces and working practices within our business and liaising with both direct employees and contractors to produce documented evidence and championing H&S at all times. You will be based at our head office and will be out and about visiting various sites within the Bristol Water supply area. We are seeking an individual who has significant Health & Safety experience in a similar water, utilities or engineering environment. You will have a proactive approach to Health & Safety and well-developed stakeholder engagement and influencing skills. We need someone who is comfortable dealing with a number of key issues with rapidly changing demands and priorities, so the ability to multi-task is crucial. Ideally from the water industry, but not essential, you will be part of our Asset Management team who are consistently working at driving operational efficiency in the following areas – Optimise the plant operations – minimizing overall cost of the treatment works, factoring in chemical, electrical, and maintenance cost to get lowest net cost Reduce overall energy usage – where consistent with plant optimisation Make plant more resilient and autonomous – maintain water quality standards and achieve reliable, resilient service (reducing costs of unplanned interruptions) Improve site standardisation to include verification – standardisation across sites reduces staff cross-training requirements and allows repair more quickly, therefore reduced downtime and reduced repair/replacement cost Deliver best practice guide for operations – record research results to maintain savings long term after project team oversight is focused on other sites What will you be doing? We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer (Civil & Structural) to join our Projects team who are responsible for the design, project management and supervision of the construction and renovation of a wide range of Network and Corporate assets, including pumping stations, pipelines, reservoirs and buildings. What will you be doing? As Project Engineer you will be responsible for designing and supervising a diverse range of civil and structural engineering projects, to ensure Bristol Water achieves value in the delivery of the capital programme whilst minimising the impact on our customers. You will have a varied role, where you will have opportunity for designing, drawing and supervising construction of mainlaying, civil engineering and structural projects from outline design through detailed design, construction, commissioning and handover.
