Trail-blazing Chew Valley run raises over £3,500 for children’s charity

Over 200 amateur runners have helped raise over £3,500 for a local children’s hospital by taking part in charity run at Bristol Water’s Chew Valley Lake. 

The Grand Appeal is the official charity for Bristol Children’s Hospital. Known for its partnership with Aardman Animations, it funds life saving equipment, family accommodation, research, and creative therapies for sick children.

Participants took on 2.5K, 5K and 10K distances through the beautiful landscape beside the reservoir on the sunny late September morning. The annual run hosted by Bristol Water is a much-loved community event that brings people together to get outdoors, exercise, and raise money for an important cause.

Every finisher received a commemorative medal and goodie bag, with trophies going to the winners of first, second and third places for each race.

The charity’s next project is the development of a new Patient Hotel, the first of its kind in the UK, for sick children and their families.

It was a brilliant day, with the sunshine out, an incredible turnout and a fantastic atmosphere around the reservoir. The amazing amount raised will help us continue to support sick children and their families at Bristol Children's Hospital. A huge thank you to everyone who took part, donated or helped make the day such a success and to Bristol Water for their ongoing commitment to The Grand Appeal."
