Bristol Water is promoting its expert-led tuition days taking place at the company’s popular fishing spots across the region, hoping to inform and inspire new anglers of all ages, this National Fishing Month (July 25 to August 31, 2026).
As well as teaching beginners the basics of the sport, expert tutors also provide tailored advice for experienced anglers who want to fine-tune their skills. The tuition days include a practical session out on a lake to put newly learnt skills into practice and build confidence on the water.
Teaching both bank and boat angling, Bristol Water prides itself on providing visitors with some of the best, traditional loch-style trout fly fishing in the entire country all while supporting sustainability through strict biosecurity measures.
Bristol Water works in partnership with the Bristol Reservoir’s Fly Fishers Association (BRFFA), a fly fishing club run by members, to support their Youth Development Pathway with fully trained coaches. The course provides a safe, welcoming and enjoyable route into the sport.
Through programmes like the BRFFA’s Youth Development Pathway and dedicated Bristol Water tuition days, Bristol Water aims to inform and inspire new anglers of all ages.
The company supports local angling enthusiasts through community focused investment and working with angling groups to meet annual fish population recruitment goals. This year the company introduced 70,000 trout across their three waters to ensure fishing won’t negatively affect trout populations or biodiversity.
By establishing healthy and sustainable fishing habits, angling can be instrumental to improving a lake’s ecosystem. Not only can it be a powerful force for conservation, but through connecting with nature fishing is also a hobby valued for its positive impacts on mental health.
Bristol Water’s lakes are also globally renowned as the proud home of the official UK Pike Record, with Chew Valley Lake continuing to stand as the premium pike angling destination in the country. The waters deliver consistently large specimen fish year after year. In the last few months five jaw-dropping pike over 30lb have been caught.
