Learn what causes brown water and how to get rid of it
What causes brown/orange water
Most of our water mains are made of iron and over time rust particles can settle at the bottom of the pipes. When there’s a disturbance to the normal flow of water (like a burst for example) these particles can get swept up and make their way into the water to your tap giving it a brown or orange colour.
How to get rid of brown/orange water
Brown water is usually short lived and is quite common after there’s been a burst in your area. Running your taps for 30 minutes to flush your pipes through should get rid of the issue.
