ANOTHER MILESTONE IN BW'S APPEAL OVER PRICES

The Competition Commission has today published provisional and draft findings on Bristol Water's referral of the regulator Ofwat's decision over prices for the next five years.

Bristol Water is studying the findings carefully and will need time to analyse them fully before making any detailed response.

The issuing of the findings is simply another milestone in a lengthy process.

That process began in January when Bristol Water announced that it could not accept Ofwat's decision, saying it had no alternative but to ask for the issue to be referred to the Competition Commission for review. The Company said it did not believe Ofwat's decision was in the best interests of its current and future customers.

A number of hearings and investigations have taken place since then.

There will be further hearings involving the main parties in early July and a final re-determination will be announced in August.
