Your water quality
Your drinking water supply is classed as hard.
Your water supply comes from surfaces waters (lakes)
During the report period, all tests carried out on samples collected in this Water Supply Zone met all the legal limits specified in the current Water Supply (Water Quality) Regulations except for one sample which failed the standard for total coliforms and two samples which failed the standard for iron.
Our investigations confirmed the total coliform failure was specific to the property. The result is not representative of general water quality in the zone and all follow up samples were satisfactory. The customer was informed of the result and provided with advice to prevent a recurrence.
Mains water may contain very low levels of iron although old iron water mains or domestic pipework can cause levels to increase. Whilst not a health hazard, this can cause a colour in the water. Our investigations indicated that both failures were due to a transient disturbance of mains sediment. All follow-up samples were satisfactory.
