Investment

Investment Over the five-year period, Bristol Water will be spending £250 million on essential improvements and maintaining our existing assets. Key schemes include:

  • Reducing leakage by a further 10%.
  • Significant increases in the level of water main and meter replacement and maintenance of other assets.
  • Revamping/modernising some of our largest and most important pumping stations.
  • Installing specialist disinfection processes at a range of treatment works to reduce the risk of cryptosporidium organisms getting into drinking water.
  • Carrying out a major resilience scheme to protect supplies to about 185,000 customers in central and west Bristol. This will involve nearly eight kilometres of new water mains plus a new pumping station.
  • Improving mains capacity to meet changes in demand from new and existing customers.
  • A programme to upgrade 59 km of trunk mains to maintain and improve water quality.
