Alan has worked at Bristol Water for more than 25 years and held a variety of technical and operational roles. He was appointed the Production Director in 2015. Alan is a member of the Suez International Technical Committee for Water Resources and Drinking Water Production and currently acts in the capacity of Senior Authorised Person (SAP) for hazardous operations within Bristol Water. Outside of Bristol Water Alan and his wife Linda, run a small business selling women’s fashion accessories and jewellery (Luna Jewellery – Clevedon), with the help of their two ‘Scottie Dogs’ George and Eddie. Favorite activities include coastal walks and kayaking.
The Production team are responsible for the tactical (5 year), in AMP asset management, operation and maintenance and project delivery for ‘above ground’ assets. Typical assets include operational civil engineering structures such as reservoirs, dams, tunnels, culverts and treatment works abstraction, storage and process structures. The department and wider business also rely on a small but dedicated team of highly skilled mechanical, electrical, instrument, control and automation (MEICA) engineers and technicians. These activities also include the 24 hour staffing of the Company Operations Room, Purton and Barrow treatment works.
