About Us
Bristol Water plc supplies water to over 1.1 million people and businesses in an area of almost 2,400 square kilometres centred on Bristol. We take water from nearly 70 different sources which range from reservoirs, rivers, springs, wells and boreholes. Our largest reservoir is Chew Valley Lake which can hold 20,460 million litres of water.
Blagdon Lake is also one of ours. The raw water is treated at one of our sixteen treatment works, the biggest of which can deliver 165 million litres a day. And all of it has to meet the most rigorous water quality standards in the world.
We use some of the latest technology and sophisticated IT systems, to ensure our complex network which includes 164 pumping stations and over 6600 kms of pipe runs smoothly 24 hours a day.
Delivering water from source to tap is a mammoth feat of engineering and a team effort on behalf of over 500 employees at Bristol Water plc.
Can you help us meet the challenges of providing this valuable resource to over 1 million domestic and commercial customers across Bristol and its surrounding areas?
We are about to embark on our biggest investment programme ever. Over the next five years we will spend over £260 million to:
-
Ensure that essential infrastructure does not deteriorate
-
Cut leakage by a further 10%
-
Make further water quality improvements
-
Ensure we enough water available to meet growing demand, despite climate change
-
Provide greater security of supply for 185,000 customers
