I had a birthday fishing treat at Blagdon yesterday (Sat 16th May). It was very windy so motored down to a little weedy bay between Wood Bay & Bell's Bush where it was nice and sheltered and looked pretty fishy. Initially I tried floating line and nymphs but it was too weedy to fish static, so tried my other rod with DI-3 with two cormorants between a blob and booby. On my first cast I stripped back quickly and got a solid lock up. After a lengthy battle I netted my only fish (and bite) of the day, a lovely brown of 4lb 14oz - it took a red holo cormorant that i'd tied up the night before. The fish was returned unharmed.
