Water Quality - Introduction

Water quality is the unquestioned priority for Bristol Water and the customers we serve. Sophisticated treatment processes are in place to ensure that all the water we produce is clear, clean and fresh. Proof of this lies in our water quality results, published by the Drinking Water Inspectorate annually, which consistently rates us amongst the best.

Each and every day of the year our team of Water Quality Samplers collect samples in specially refrigerated vehicles that travel the length and breadth of our 1000 square mile supply zone. They collect according to a sophisticated computer controlled programme that ensures water quality is checked right from its source to the customers' taps.

Each year around 60,000 samples are taken on which water quality specialist carry on some 800,000 tests. The results generated are handled by a sophisticated computerised laboratory information management system, to make sure that the results go to the people within the company who are involved with water production and also to the Drinking Water Inspectorate who scrutinise the quality of our company's drinking water.

To find out more go to one of the following sections where you can download water quality reports and a leaflet explaining more about the standards.
