Future Water Supply

Balancing the need for water with protection of the environment Your opportunity to participate in the water supply planning process Bristol Water began way back in 1846. Since then the area we cover and the number of customers we supply have increased enormously - as have their expectations in terms of both quality and quantity of water demanded.

To meet these challenges the Company plans, develops and manages effective solutions to provide efficient and reliable supplies to customers.

The planning process is an integral part of the Company's operation, and includes both short term planning for unusually dry periods as well as the long range planning looking at implications of growth, development and climatic trends for up to 30 years into the future. The Water Act of 2003 now gives all water Companies the opportunity to share the details of the planning process with as wide a range of stakeholders as possible.

In order to achieve this we are about to embark on a consultation to seek the views of the public and other key stakeholders. This will ensure that any future vision of water supply continues to balance the expectations and requirements of all those that live and work in the area supplied by the Company.

We will begin the consultation process for the revision of the water resources plan in Autumn 2006. If you would like to take part in the process, please contact us.
