Our distribution system involves nearly 6,500 kilometres of networked mains, ranging from 50mm to 1200mm in diameter. These criss-cross the area, linking our treatment works and 140 covered service reservoirs storing the treated water at strategic points. Flow is maintained by gravity in areas where the service reservoirs are higher than the area they serve or by 164 remote controlled pumping stations. The distribution system is highly automated and is monitored round the clock from our central operations control room.
