Asset Maintenance Manager

A great opportunity has arisen for an Asset Maintenance Manager who will have responsibility for leading the Asset Maintenance Team in the capture, management, delivery and assurance of asset information here at Bristol Water.

The Role

As Asset Maintenance Manager, you will be taking the lead in developing and implementing the company asset maintenance strategy. You will be responsible for leading the Asset Maintenance Team and ensuring that data and information are of high quality with reliable, comprehensive and dynamic/current data sets relevant to the current and future business requirements.

You will be responsible for the maintenance of the datasets and data repository systems relating to:

asset data (type, specification, location, age/date installed),
asset attribute data (capacity, materials of construction),
asset hierarchy
condition and performance data, failure, repair and refurbishment data (type and date),
maintenance schedules and records,
unit costs and associated cost models
Supporting data and records (failure reports/investigations) and similar.

Key Responsibilities

Managing and maintaining asset and cost data, resolving anomalies and inaccuracies and ensuring quality and asset data validation and verification
Developing and implementing the company asset maintenance strategy
Providing access to, and visibility of, asset information, including drawings, diagrams, registers, performance records and maintenance costs to support planning and delivery
Identifying and delivering opportunities to improve asset data quality and usage to align with the Data Improvement Strategy
Identification of critical assets and delivery of appropriate maintenance plans
Supporting the definition and development of a company specific Unit Cost Database, including processes to support data input and improve data capture and the development of cost models
Recording all Production data requirements from source to utilisation and analysis
Identifying and recording all network assets on SAP where maintenance activities are required
Assisting with the interface between the SAP and GIS environments to ensure common assured consistent data is display in both
Clear and consistent governance and guidelines for the identification and collation of asset data requirements
Future system developments to align with Asset Planning requirements, including improved identification and implementation of additional available functionality in SAP
Training colleagues and team in the use of the data systems.

Skills and Experience

Proven management experience
Experience in data and information management functions, preferably in a physical asset management environment
Experience of assessing data needs and data quality to ensure data requirements of the business are met
Understanding of Water Industry regulatory framework and OFWAT’s business model and appreciation of data needs within a highly regulated environment
MS Office and SAP essential and knowledge of data and information systems relevant to the management of physical assets
Strategic and analytical thinker with excellent communication and verbal and written reasoning skills
Highly Numerate with competent IT skills
Degree or equivalent level of experience, ideally in an engineering or science discipline
Ideally, professional accreditation (for example Chartered Engineer, Member of Institute of Asset Management, Member of Chartered Institute of Water and Environmental Management), or equivalent levels of experience
