“Bristol Water…Clearly” is our consultation on our long-term ambitions. The document sets out our long-term ambitions for water services, local communities and the environment out to 2050. Bristol Water is asking our customers and stakeholders to get involved and share their views on what our long –term ambition should be.
Bristol Water was founded in 1846 to bring fresh, clean drinking water to the area we serve, essential to the health & wellbeing of all communities. We remain an innovative company that is true to our original roots. But the challenges of the future mean we have to be ambitious, in finding better ways to plan for future and to respond to our customers’ expectations, changing societal and environmental needs, and the needs of future generations.
The expectations of our customers and stakeholders go beyond the product we supply. Bristol Water…Clearly sets out what we have been doing, who we have been listening to and working with, and what we could do in the future. It sets out some of the options we face for the long-term, and how we plan to work with others to address shared challenges.
We have used the views of our customers, stakeholders and employees to develop this future ambition. We summarise our aim to:
- Fulfil a role well beyond the basic provision of water
- Keep bills affordable through innovation and efficiency
- Improve resource efficiency by cutting leakage and boosting water efficiency
- Keep our supplies resilient
Bristol Water…Clearly provides a wealth of information on our recent innovations and performance. We set out the changes we already have in place and set out how we plan to go further in the future, working in partnership with the local community.
Based on what we hear, in April 2018 we will be publishing a draft of our business plan for 2020-25. We currently invest around £50m each year to maintain and improve water services and infrastructure. You can help decide how we should invest and what we should improve in the future. You can share your views on our future plans by emailing email@example.com, or join the conversation on Twitter @BristolWater using #bristolwaterclearly
Mel Karam, CEO said about the long-term ambition for Bristol Water: “Companies that want to be around for the decades to come must ensure that society and the environment are at the heart of everything they do. Over our long history, we have gained the trust of our customers as we have remained true to our original roots; to break new ground, and to be ambitious, in finding better ways to plan for future and to respond to our customers’ expectations, changing societal and environmental needs, and the needs of future generations.”
